I don't know. It seems like your column is a bit skewed toward an opinion that motorcyclists are a problem. Motorcycles are a more efficient form of transportation. They use less gas, cause less pollution, and take up less space.

As pointed out below I seldom see a motorcycle tailgate, run a red light, or drive in a distracted manner.

There's also a social aspect of motorcycling clubs and people. These are people who regulary organized rides that generate large donations to charitable causes.

so many people dont pay attntion when they drive because there busy with kids and phones and just no paying attention. motorcycle seem to pay more attention than people in cars.

I have no problem with cars on the highway as long as they observe safety rules and show respect for people on motorcycles.

Why don't people see motorcycles?

Inattentional Blindness.

See this story or google it.

I often see cars driving along side one another for several miles. This is illegal.

Kingsport Police advise:
Tip#9 Drive Right.
While driving on a multi-lane roadway, drivers must use the right lane to travel in unless passing slower vehicles, turning left, or yielding to traffic conditions or emergencies.

I almost hit a motorcyclist 45 years ago by making a left turn in front of him, because I wasn't looking for motorcycles, I was only looking for cars. Scared him and me both silly, but cured me. We see what we are looking for, and most car drivers are only secondarily aware of bikes, and cell phone users are seldom aware of anything. I currently have 3 motorcycles, and have ridden for 40 years. I think bikers have to be hyper alert, and it doesn't hurt to pray before you leave the house.
I have heard it said by some bikers that "Loud pipes save lives," but I disagree. People are disdainful and often vindictive of what makes them angry, and loud pipes make a lot of people mad. I went on one big bike rally where I got stuck in the midst of a bunch of Harley's with straight pipes - never again! You don't make yourself safer by being obnoxious.
Now a few legality opinions:
I think that anyone who kills a biker by making a left turn in front of them ought to automatically be charged with manslaughter.
I have never been ticketed for not having a headlight on, but find it curious that cars can drive in the dark or in the rain (illegally) without ever being stopped, but you can get a ticket for driving a bike without a headlight on. If I ever have a headlight burn out on me and i get stopped, I'll ask the officer if he/she has ever written a car for no headlights in the rain/dark.

I ride a motorcycle for fun, exileration, and now fuel savings. I have no problem with cyclist, but we all need to respect the road, rules, and each other. Most motorized vehicles have the ability to break the speed limit, but motorcyclist have an inherent safety deficit due to the lack of protection, stability in unstable conditions, etc. I have been more aggrivated by rude people driving cars. Probably because the motorcyclist can and will get away from you, where the automobile may have to tailgate and rant before finding an opportunity to pass you by. And I have seen more cars running red lights and stop signs than motorcycles

Like Jimmy, I have little problem with Bikers. I realize most bikers recognize the danger to themselves and take necessary precaution. Younger riders are the more dangerous. Not because they're on a bike, rather because yutes :) tend to ignore the inherent risks. Part 'n parcel of bein' young...

I used to ride a bike, so I am very willing to share the road. The only bikers that annoy me are the ones that pass on the shoulder the the crotch-rockets that come out of nowhere and pass me doing 80-90.

We, of course, need to share the road with motorcycles. It's just that they sometimes seem to ignore the cars, or the rules, or the speed limits.
